"..drinking this peach and sparkling wine combo - a favorite of Ernest Hemingway's - wasn't just for iconic writers. Starting in the late nineteenth century, African American women established service organizations that worked to uplift their communities. They held their own conventions, published cookbooks as fundraising projects, and gathered in private homes to set economic, social, and political priorities. This work continues to this day."
